What do you do for a living?

I’m a Firmware Engineer for Western Digital.

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of the gym?

Getting out for city league sports and movies at home. Competition drives me so I try to stay as active as possible.

What made you decide to try Progression?

I was introduced through work and the partnership between WD and CFP.

How long have you been at CFP?

About 3 years on and off.

What was your experience with fitness like prior to Progression?

I’ve always been into lifting and have phased in and out of different workouts since I was about 20. I’ve also always enjoyed running.

What was your biggest fear when you started?

Keeping with it long term.

Favorite cheat day meal?

Huge breakfast covered in sausage gravy and a Bloody Mary.

What goal(s) are you currently chasing?

The past year my biggest goal was to get to under 10% body fat, I’m down around 70 pounds and am getting close. Getting a legitimate handstand pushup and bar muscle-up are next on my list as well.

What’s the hardest part about your fitness journey at the moment?

2 things: balancing nutrition to help fuel my workouts while also allowing myself to continue with my weight loss goals, and getting enough sleep.

What’s one thing your fellow CFP’ers would be surprised to learn about you?

Golf is one of my favorite Sunday sports to watch; you can take a nap for 3 hours and nothing has changed.

What’s your favorite piece of advice you’ve gotten from a coach or member at CFP?

Knuckles down as long as possible while doing cleans.

How has your outlook on health/fitness changed since starting CrossFit?

I find myself excited to get my workouts in. I feel satisfied with the quality of my workouts more often.

What has been your fondest memory during your time at CFP?

Friday Night Lights for the CrossFit Open was a lot of fun. As well as all the holiday events.

Why do you think you’ve stuck with CFP?

The competition aspect keeps things fresh and challenges me. I’m always looking to try to get faster or nail a new PR or push myself toward being able to do something I see others doing.

What would be your one piece of advice for someone who’s just joining CFP?

Let your coaches help you scale your workouts to your ability.
