Rebecca is up most days before the sun REV’ing in Coach Samida’s 6:00 am class. She’s super bubbly and always up for a challenge. Meet Rebecca.
What do you do for a living?
I’m an RN Study Coordinator at Mayo Clinic.
What’s your favorite thing to do outside of the gym?
During winter I snowboard. Summer I like to garden, play with my dog, and just be outside.
What made you decide to try CrossFit?
My sister Danielle. I had been following a few pages on Facebook to see what they were doing and then she gave me the push to try it out.
How long have you been at CFP?
Since September 2015.
What was your experience with fitness like prior to CrossFit?
I swam every day possible during the summer as the public pool was in my back yard growing up. I played soccer, ran track, and did the triple jump in high school. Stayed pretty active most of college (I was still bel to hold free standing handstands and do handstand walks). Then went to the fitness center at work and just had no motivation.
What was your biggest fear when you started CrossFit?
That I couldn’t make it through the whole workout or finishing last. Which I did and still often do finish last but not really because there is always someone who comes around and finishes with you.
What’s your favorite meal?
Chicken Alfredo.
What goal(s) are you currently chasing?
Non-banded pull ups and a handstand hold.
What’s one thing your fellow CFP’ers would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m not sure on this one. I’m the youngest of 6 girls; I have no brothers.
What’s your favorite piece of advice you’ve gotten from a coach at CFP?
You don’t have to go as hard as possible every day. Keep breathing. If you keep breathing you can make it through any WOD.
How has your outlook on health/fitness changed since starting CrossFit?
I’m a much healthier and happier person since starting at CrossFit Progression. My health has improved significantly and if there is one thing that I’m surprise by is that I haven’t been expressed or battled with depression since starting at CFP.
What has been your fondest memory during your time at CrossFit Progression?
Nog Fest was fun. Watching Friday Night Lights was great too! I love the spirit and community at CFP.
Why do you think you’ve stuck with CrossFit Progression?
Because I feel so good now. I actually regret missing a workout.
What would be your one piece of advice for someone who’s just joining CFP?
Stick with it for at least 3 months. Talk to your coaches. Have fun.
