She’s has 5 dogs, she’s a coffee lover, and she collects teddy bears. What more could you ask for in a human being? In all seriousness, Ginny is someone with a huge heart and a brave spirit that take her through many adventures in life.
J: What do you do for a living?
G: I am an Assistant Supervisor in the Center for Sleep Medicine at Mayo Clinic
J: Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
G: I was born in Memphis but have spent most of my life in Minnesota
J: What brought you to CrossFit Progression/How did you find us?
G: Friends and co-workers told me about it.
J: What’s your favorite thing to do outside of the gym?
G: Sleep, spending time with friends, sleep, gardening, sleep, cooking, sleep (did I mention sleep?)
J: We have Hip Hop Friday, but do we need to talk about an entire day at the gym devoted to Country music?
G: I love country music but I don’t think I would want to work out to it!
J: Favorite cheat meal?
G: Cheese, crackers, popcorn, and Chukar Cherries (the Truffle Cherries are my favorite!)
J: What’s your favorite healthy recipe?
G: I love eggs and sweet potatoes so this recipe is perfect 🙂
J: Would you rather: Clean & Jerk or Overhead Squat?
G: We have not done either in boot camp yet but I’m guessing I would prefer overhead squats
J: Would you rather: Leopard Crawl or Mountain Climbers?
G: Mountain climbers
J: What’s your least favorite movement?
G: Running or Pull-ups
J: What’s your perfect WOD?
G: Anything that doesn’t involve a burpee (or a pull up)….haha
J: What goal(s) are you currently chasing?
G: More strength and overall health.
J: What’s one thing that your fellow CFP members would be surprised to know about you?
G: I have a Ham Radio License and collect teddy bears
Amateur Radio (ham radio) is a popular hobby and service that brings people, electronics and communication together. People use ham radio to talk across town, around the world, or even into space, all without the Internet or cell phones. It’s fun, social, educational, and can be a lifeline during times of need. J: What’s the hardest part of CrossFit?
G: The time of day with boot camp has been hard.
J: What’s the best thing you’ve gotten out of your time at CFP?
G: New friends and a great workout
J: Favorite piece of advice you’ve gotten from a coach at CFP?
G: You just keep getting better. That’s what this is about.
J: Why do you make time to get to the gym?
G: It makes me feel better – mentally and physically
J: How has your outlook on yourself changed since joining CrossFit Progression?
G: I stepped outside of my comfort zone to join and I have more confidence now.
J: What has been your fondest memory during your time at CrossFit Progression?
G: The people that you meet through CFP and tire flips!
J: How is your experience at CFP different from what you’ve done previously?
G: Being supported by the coaches and peers before, during, and after the workout is tremendous! Most places you go, you do the workout and leave. The support network at CFP is great (at least from what I’ve witnessed through boot camp)!
J: What would be your one piece of advice for someone who’s just joining CrossFit Progression?
G: Stick with it, some days are harder than others (either because mentally you are not into it or it is just physically hard), but it does get easier and you get stronger.
