Anthony’s Story:

“I hit my second fitness milestone this morning. I have officially lost 20 pounds from the first day of Boot Camp 2.0. I do accept that weight is not what matters and how I feel is the key to my fitness, but I have struggled with weight for most of my life. It is more than a number to me, but conquering a demon through hard work and sacrifice.”

“At the beginning of my first boot camp, my blood pressure was 151/94. I checked it today and it is 107/66. No meds, just eating right and moving.

No matter what your motivation is, how hard it gets, or how frustrating things may become, stick with it. There is more at stake than looking good.”

At the beginning of the year, I weighed over 240 pounds. I point the finger at being sedentary, fast food lunches, and too many Happy Hour dinners. At one point, I was experiencing abdominal pain. The doctor said “I can’t find a cause; lose weight and see if that helps.” Rather than exploring causes, I was handed a pamphlet about obesity and sent on my way.

I don’t know what woke me up, but I told Angela McGinley that I saw a “boot camp” at Crossfit Progression and I wanted to try it. I was hooked by the second workout. I talked Angela into trying it as well, so we joined the next session together. She was addicted by the end of the first week.

We eat real food, now. No fast food, soda, or processed or refined sugar. Snacks wrapped in plastic are a thing of the past. We go to class 4 days a week and workout at home Saturdays. If we are at the campground, we run and do a body weight workout. I need to stress that we eat lots of food.

All of the things I went to doctors about are either cured or improving, without medicine. My near cronic indigestion is gone. Shoulder pain is improving. Knee pain is gone.

My point is that I have a new outlook on life and thanks to Nicki Schafer,Melissa Kirby, Nic Scudamore, Rob Murry, Mark Michalski, Michael Licatino,Joshua J Grenell, and everyone else at CFP, that outlook is a lifestyle. Thank you all! Yesterday I couldn’t remember my weight was at “two-oh-something.” Today, I realize that 209 is just a new beginning.
