Got Goals?

So what is the purpose of having goals anyways? Remember the days when your Kindergarten teacher would take a week of their curriculum to teach you the importance of making goals? You would make the goal and then spend time each day of the week preparing and practicing to achieve the goal that you set for yourself. Goal setting is an important to a Kindergartener as it is to an adult.

No matter where you are in life, goal setting should be part of it. Whether you think it is silly or not, you probably set goals all the time without even thinking about. For instance, as I get out of bed in the morning I set the goal that I am going to go to bed by 10:00pm that night. 🙂 Goals. Everyone does it, but think how much more we could accomplish if we took charge of the automatic thoughts and made them more purposeful.

Goal setting can be as easy as expressing your goal to your spouse, friend, co-worker or coach. Subsconsciously you remember what you have told others and you would hate to be a liar or be proven wrong. You want to stay true to your words and therefore you are more likely to follow through.

Goals can be short term or long term. In reality, when goal setting you should try to set both short and long term goals. Goals should always be something that are reasonably accomplished. So give yourself a chance to have great direction this year. Set goals and achieve them!
