Why do I CrossFit ?

I’m asked a lot why I CrossFit? “What’s the point? Do you really need to work out that bad? Isn’t it hard? It all seems a bit extreme!” I’ve thought a lot about this and made the following conclusion:

Each day we are given 24 hours, how we decide to use those hours is our responsibility. Eight to ten of those will be spent at work/school, hopefully seven to eight of them spent sleeping, and we’ll say two to three hours spent preparing (whether it’s yourself, or meals, or kids or what have you). That leaves a very rough estimation of four hours for you to choose and just be or do.

I know for myself, and many other members at CFP, we choose to be great. We choose to come to the gym and be better than what we were the day before. For that one hour, we decide to be something different. We work hard, we sweat, hurt, skin tears and muscle burns from the tasks in which we execute. Our bodies and minds are in constant battle with each other and yet we ask for more. We demand more ourselves and we need to ask for more out of life. We need to raise the bar. For that one hour at the gym, there are 23 other hours that beg for that same mind set.

The same passion in which the gym instills, should not be left there, grab it, and run! Let this transpire into other areas of the remaining short hours. You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. To look back each night and be able to say “Yeah, I gave it everything I had today”. Become relentless in the pursuit of a better life. Live with intention. Ignite a passion for living and banish complacency; this is the only way to truly live. Choose to be fully alive. Choose the greatest you.

This, is why I choose CrossFit. What’s your answer?
